WinQure Medicine CEO Stephanie Manton joined the panel “From Local Start-ups to Becoming a Euro Champion in Life Science” at TechBBQ in Copenhagen, discussing what it takes to build and scale a successful European biotech company.
The conversation explored some of the fundamentals of building a successful life science company: finding a clear niche, knowing your story, getting the timing right and building globally from the outset.
For WinQure, however, building a successful company and delivering on its mission are inseparable.
“Our focus is very clear: supporting the patients who are being left behind,” said Stephanie Manton. “In ultra-rare disease, the timing is now. Preferably yesterday.”
The discussion also highlighted the importance of thinking globally from the beginning. For WinQure, this is driven not only by access to expertise, infrastructure and capital, but by the patients themselves.
“We don’t really get to decide where we operate. The patients decide that for us. Where they are, we are.”
Ultimately, building a strong and sustainable WinQure is what enables the company to develop and deliver therapies to patients. That, for WinQure, remains the most important measure of success.
The panel was moderated by Sergio Ferreira, with Stephanie joined by Niclas Roxhed and Thomas T. Kabel.
WinQure Medicine thanks TechBBQ and the fellow panellists for a great discussion.
